Leeds United’s 2021/22 accounts cover a season when they finished 17th in the Premier League, dramatically avoiding relegation with a win on the final day of the season.
The much loved Marcelo Bielsa, who had taken the club back to the top flight after a 16-year absence, had been sacked in February after a run of poor results. He was replaced by Jesse Marsch, but the American coach was in turn dismissed less than 12 months later, succeeded by Javi Gracia.

Leeds United’s pre-tax loss widened from £12m to £37m, despite revenue rising £18m (11%) from £171m to a club record £189m, as total expenses increased by £44m (24%) from £183m to £227m. In addition, they only booked £1m profit from player sales.
The main reason for the revenue increase was the return of fans to the stadium, which led to a steep increase in match day, up from only £2m to £25m, and also helped drive £13m (35%) growth in commercial income from £36m to £49m. Both of these established new club records.
